BOARD MEMBERS
Alice Balestrino is Junior Assistant Professor of American Literature at Università degli Studi di Roma Tre. Her research interests include 20th and 21st century American Literature, Postmemory, Autobiography and Autofiction, Biopolitics and Italian Theory. Her book Extra-Vacant Narratives, Reading Holocaust Fiction in the Post-9/11 Age elaborates on the concept of vacancy as a reading strategy for Holocaust uchronias and autofictions written in the aftermath of 9/11 and analyzes texts by Michael Chabon, Jonathan Safran Foer, Art Spiegelman and Philip Roth. She is also the author of essays on Jewish American literature, alternate histories, and the representation of memory in graphic narratives. Her paper “Placing Time, Timing Space. Memory as Border and Line of (Hi)Stories in Richard McGuire’s Graphic Narrative Here ” received the Emory Elliott Award at the IASA Conference in 2017.
